Vacations! Spring Break!

It’s Spring Break! Are you vacationing? I wonder…

Spring break conjures up memories from my college years and travel to the beaches of Florida. While similar trips are no doubt in the works for current day coeds, I am perfectly content, no ecstatic, to be practicing the beginning of a staycation right in my backyard.  A staycation, planned with intention, is one of the best kept money savvy secrets.  First, yes, staying at home rather than embarking on a trip saves money in the form of increased cash flow or decreased withdrawals in your bank account. Second, staying home opens the opportunity for you to deeply appreciate your home in new ways and create lasting positive memories. Third, staying home increases the perceived value of your home by enjoying it in new and different ways.

My favorite ten staycation activities: 1) walking in town center with Kimball’s ice cream, 2) Yoga and meditation by the stream, 3) crackling fire in the fire-pit sipping a glass of dry white Burgundy, 4) pulling weed meditation (I know weird but so satisfying), 5) futzing (another word for piddling) around in the yard and digging in the dirt, 6) walking in nature, 7) grilling new recipes with fresh ingredients on the outdoor grill, 8) savoring the sunsets at dusk, 9) sitting in silence outside as the sounds of nature offer a symphony, 10) reading on the deck – a book, a magazine, or one of many articles my beloved saves for me.

What are your favorite staycation activities? I wonder.
