So, let me start with my present state of mind… a little grumpy. I just ate a few potato chips from my spouse’s stash and a few bites of my coconut almond chip ice cream. Even though I was aware of my actions – not so healthy – I still drifted rather than host my grumpy feelings.
Another common unhealthy action is spending money when we are grumpy. Rather than investigating what is underneath the body sensations, thoughts and feelings, we go shopping to ease the stress. Raise your hand if you have ever gone shopping while in a bad mood. Do you recall the item you bought? Nine times out of ten those purchases do not fit right, are never used, ripen past the expiration date – you get the idea.
Recognizing grumpy first, the next best move is to look inside and find grumpy in your body rather than searching for your wallet. Allow this seed to ripen if, and when, your state of mind drifts from the present. Will you water this seed? I wonder…
